Hey Everybody,

I'm hoping the SoCal forum is the right place for this, if not, sorry - I'm a newbie to this board. If there is a better forum for this, please let me know. I'm trying to reach divers in the Carlsbad area. "SoCal" kept turning up on my intial searches.

LOST - on 2/12/2006 - two Scubapro Twin Jet fins with spring straps. :sad_2:
$50 CASH REWARD for return. Do a good deed AND get paid!
Please?

Yeah, it is a bummer! Lost during surf entry at Tamarack beach straight out from blue railing steps by ranger station next to the parking lot. There was a strong under current at high tide in fairly large surf right up to the beach, so they probably washed out to the beginning of the rocks. After some looking, were unable to find them in the surf/turbidity as it was. The current was to the south, so they may have travelled a little bit down from the steps area as they washed out.

If you happen to find them, please send me a private message for arrangements to meet in the Carlsbad area for exchange with reward. (We could meet at Cessy's and I'll buy you a fantastic burrito too.) It would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

THANK YOU for your help everybody!!

Welcome to the SoCal section of the Board.

This is the right place to post. Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully someone will find them and return them. There are quite a few divers on here from your area. I am sure if someone finds them they will post here. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your fins. If you PM me your email address I will post this to the local San Diego lists as well.

Hey welcome to the board Big J! I run (and I use that term very loosely) at Tamarack four or five times a week. I'll keep an eye out for 'em!

If nothing else, DiverBouy will find them in Laguna sometime over the next six months. He is the great dive gear magnet of the universe. (Inside joke there Big J).

Does your gear have any distinguishing marks..i.e. your name/initials?

If not, go now and buy a permanent marker and get to marking. People can't return stuff if they don't know who it belongs too. I find an email address etched in makes a good choice. Touch on fins to do that but for lights/etc it works well.

Yes - There are three small initials in black marker on the sole part of the foot well on each fin, toward the edge. The markings are probably very faint, if still visible at all. They were pretty much just for distinguishing fins among others in group dives where things tend to get mixed up; unfortunately, they won't help much in this case - but I can confirm the initials if the fins are found to help "prove" ownership. :) Because of the black ink on black rubber, you may have to hold them at the right angle in the light (where the ink tends to reflect differently) to distinguish the lettering. They may be rubbed out by now, but I did notice they were still faintly visible about a week or two ago.

The email address on equipment is a good idea, and would be more useful for recoveries. Thanks for the tip.

J
