Have you got your contact info in it? Did you register it?
I found a GoPro during a lake clean-up. No contact info on the card and when we contacted GoPro the owner had not registered it. No way to return it.

I agree, I don't trust lanyards. Actually, I'm not the one who actually lost it and I had said as much. Unfortunately she got the camera day before the trip and just opened the box this morning. No contact info and not registered. Yep, I know, but no sense in busting her chops. The loss is doing that enough already.

Jeanie suggested credit card may offer loss protection. The bad part of this is that even if covered or replaced she won't have it this trip.

If she just opened the box this morning, she can still register it - in case it's found by someone who wants to return it. I do hope your/her insurance offers some coverage.

That sucks.......I had a telescoping pole that had a flimsy lanyard that broke in 1 use as well - didnt lose it though!
For future reference, try this one - it is pretty bomb proof (I use this one now):

Don't know if it's too late or not or IF you did this, but your boat captain should have gotten on the marine radio channel and asked for help to search that area. With a reward, I promise that many many boats would be suddenly diving there!..........hope you find it!
