It would appear that Canon will not make a separate housing for the G12.

Backscatter.com is advertising the Canon WP-DC34 housing for either the G11 or G12. Amazon.com states the same and so does the Canon website if you click on "compatibility" on this Canon Link

If this is the situation then the housing will not allow for use of the lens ring on the front of the G12. Changes that the front ring is capable of doing will have to be made in the same manner as with the G11.

Perhaps Canon is satisfied with that and sees no need to make another housing just to add the front ring control?

Note that the G12 front control is not actually a ring-control like the S95, but rather another wheel on the front similar to a Nikon D90 dual rotating wheel system.

I have both camera + WP DC-34 and can confirm that yes the camera works, with no access to front wheel - waiting for FishEye/RecSea to issue a housing before deciding what to do next - in the short term am going to play around with the camera & get wet.

Note that in the menu system, I can turn off the front wheel so the camera is entirely back-wheel operated like the G11 (and previous incarnations).
