Hi, I am starting to make videos of daily dives with the costumers at a dive shop. I sell the videos at the end of the day and I am looking for a pretty nice camera with a budget between 2000 $ to 3500$ Any suggestions would be very appreciated, Thanks!

Hmmm... I'd be interested in this answer as well. My research has narrowed things down, but I'm still undecided. The Sony HDR-CX760V with Ikelite housing would be around $2600.

I'll be at DEMA this week and I'll be looking at the latest and greatest GoPro 3 Black edition. I have seen some pretty impressive videos from this system. A system like this would be way less expensive than having a camcorder and a separate housing. Just not totally sold on the quality of the video yet as what I have seen so far may be the best case senario. But I'd certainly take a hard look at this system before I'd go spending any money on something else.

None of the GoPros are meant to take the place of a full underwater system. They certainly have improved with the GoPro HERO HD 2 as far as sensor and menu use and they will be sending me the latest 3 for review in a few weeks, but they are primarily, in terms of underwater work, for B roll footage. You really wouldn't want to create an entire film out of this footage. I have a fairly steady hand but these are far to light in weight for handholding underwater shots on a regular basis. I have done many low light comparisons between the GoPRO and other cams that fill this niche market and the GoPRO really is the best of all of them by far.

Very true

which other cameras have you compared it to? (just interested)

Hi thanks for the tips, right now I'm debating between a sony cx700 with a gate housing wich would come out to about 3000-3500 but it would be new with guarantee and everything.
Otherwise I got this deal second hand a Light and Motion housing with a retro fitted back plate LCD monitor, Sony A1-U camcorder and multiple standard, wide angle and macro ports. Also included is a Fathoms WA port which sells for $1800 just by itself. Selling the complete system for $2600 plus shipping.
I am still looking into the gopro3 but no one really has any reviews about it for the underwater performance but I do like the camera a lot I would equip it with this tray and maybe some better lights

What do you guys think?

Thank you for the tips guys I've been looking into the cameras and I'm debating between the sony cx700 with a GATE housing it would cost between 3000-3500 or I got this second hand offer Light and Motion housing with a retro fitted back plate LCD monitor, Sony A1-U camcorder and multiple standard, wide angle and macro ports. And I'm looking into the gopro3 also but no one really has reviews about it for scuba diving but I really like the camera and I would equip it with this tray

What do you guys think? My only problem with the light and motion housing is it's not mechanical so they usually dont last as long and require more maintenance.

I was sponsored by L & M for many years before I went in a different direction. L & M makes a quality housing that WILL last quite a long time and should never wear out if you simply take even minimal care of it. Before that, I was sponsored by Gates whose mechanical housings are built like bricks but you still have to take care of them as well. A good electronic housings like L & M or Amphibico has greater convenience in terms of being user friendly than mechanical housings but it is really only a matter of getting used to either, knowing where the controls are by touch and a desire to film with the quality that either Gates, L & M or Amphibico offer. Yes, there are less expensive housings, but they really do not provide the quality of either of the companies I mentioned. Remember that aside from the housing itself, the quality of the glass port is all important and those Fathom Ports, while expensive as all heck, are the only ones that provide the optics you want for hi end filming.

As for the GoPRO...I have compared and reviewed many cams in this niche and all have their plusses and minuses. You can read any of the reviews on either the kenstone.net or lafcpug.org film and editing websites. I have reviewed the Contour HD, the Tachyon XC HD, the Oregon Scientific, both the first and second versions of the GoPRO HD and I forget just how many more but they will be there on the websites I listed. I am looking forward to reviewing the GoPRO HD HERO3 and should have my hands on it in a few weeks.
