I'm a Fish!
I’m located just north of Charlotte NC and I’m looking to start my tec classes. The instructor I have used to this point doesn’t teach it. So far all of my training has been though Padi but I don’t have a preference.
Thanks a lot for any recommendations!

Tony Chaney?

on this board as @TONY CHANEY but doesn't teach to my knowledge. I'm actually not aware of any solid tech instructors in that area, though it wouldn't do you a whole lot of good anyway since there's no tech diving in Charlotte. You're going to have to travel somewhere to do all of the diving

Yep totally understand that and completely willing to travel to dive. I know there is some tech diving in lake jocassee. I also know some courses have “classroom” reviews and class work. If I found a local instructor it would make that part of the class a little easier.
Thanks again

Ahh, come to Florida. Take up cave diving. I throw in a shiny new hat. :)

if you find one, make sure they are doing that type of diving regularly and that type of diving is consistent with what you want to get out of diving. I.e. if you want to be a cave diver, a wreck instructor probably isn't the best idea and vice versa though there is obviously plenty of overlap.

so what kind of diving do you want to do and which tech courses are you looking into and why?

What if you’re a cave instructor and wreck instructor with tons of time on both? :D

Great question, I want to learn more about going beyond the NDL of recreational diving. I want to have the ability to both reach deep wrecks and also spend more bottom time on dives within the recreational depth limits. I am also very interested in the science of diving that goes along with planned decompression dives. I very much enjoy the cavern diving I have done and will eventually explore that down the road.

there's a few of you out there, just have to do your homework. Though I do warn @Ghost Diver # of getting bit by the cave bug. There are many OW divers that come to cave country looking to become better divers and think that caves are just wet rocks and we are nuts for diving them. Then they get hooked....
