I may have an opportunity to go on a trip to Socorro the end of December on the Nautilus Explorer.
I have looked at many, many, many posts and sites showing what to expect. It is amazing the
amount of contradicting info about what you may see in the end of December. i would like to know the chances
of seeing any whale sharks or Humpbacks at this time of the year. If you have been in the area in the
end of December, please let me know if you had any sightings of whales.

I would like to PM a few questions to someone that just got back from the NE if possible.

Thanks!
Russ

I've been to the Socorros twice during the time period you are speaking of...once over New Year's, the other time mid-December on a boat other than the Nautilus Explorer. The first trip we had a whale shark at Roca Partida, and it's my understanding early in the season (Nov-Dec) gives you the best chance to see them (although Socorros is not especially known as a place to reliably see a whale shark). As to whales, I think you'd need to go later in the season that you are thinking of...we saw a few whales one trip, none of the other. During both trips saw large numbers of hammerheads, silkies, Galapagos, reef sharks, mantas and dolphins. One big positive going that time of year are water temps...we had 70's-low 80's both times.
