No idea what forum this should go in, I'll try it here....

Has anyone found a brand of sunscreen they like? I have not.

The problem is I put on this stuf that says "waterproof" but when I'm in the water it runs into my eyes and the eyes burn. My skin is such that I'm bright red in an hour even on an overcast day so I really need to put the sunscreen on thick and cover up too. But the sunscreen in the eyes problem is so bad I skip it and just come home fried.

Years ago I used to use "bullfrong" which was beeswax based and a very thick amber paste. It simply would not wash off in water.
I've seen some sunscreen recently in stores with the bullfrog brandname but it's different. The new stuff is a thin clear liquid or a conventional white lotion. I can see why they may have discontinued the old stuff. Years ago it was $10 for a 2 oz. bottle but for someone who did a bunch of white water kayaking it was well worth it.

Is there anything on the market today that is both 100% absoluty waterproof AND will not sting eyes if some gets in.

You and I are in the same boat. Freckles suck and that's the only tan I have. I've recently found a Bullfrog product called "Quick Gel" and this stuff is great. SPF 36 and it dries almost instantly and doesn't leave any type of residue. It is alcohol based though which requires some breath holding while you put it on your face. Once applied it dries in about 5 seconds and I haven't noticed any stinging other then from my own sweat. It's supposed to give you 80-90 minutes of water time between applications and after testing it in the ocean and on a lake I'd have to say that's about right.

If you're looking for it it comes in a grey bottle with a blue and green sticker on it. It's on the expensive side but works as advertised. You do have to learn a different way of putting it on. It's not like a lotion that you rub in. You kind of just coat your skin and that's it. No rubbing required.

I use this stuff that's alchohol based, water proof. It's Coppertone Sport Ultra-Sweatproof. You can get it at Walmart. I love it. It's spray on, and drys almost instantly.

Yes, a lycra skin . . .

I normally use the Coppertone SPF45 stuff that is does not have oil in it. I have to put it on again after getting in the water. It does wash off and I really don't care, I just put more on. I have to re-apply anyway every couple of hours. After the Dermatologist starts to skin you a half inch at a time you get careful about using sunscreen.

I use Bullfrog for Kids 36 SPF waterproof. Wonderful stuff and smells like watermelon. doesn't come off in water

Another white boy here. I have two colors: white and red. I tend to use Coppertone Sport now, but I've also been a frequent user of Johnson & Johnson Baby Sunscreen. Definitely very good stuff....if it protects a baby's sensitive skin, I thought it might work on mine. It did, and doesn't sting the eyes. ;)

When looking for the best waterproof sunscreens that are easiest on your skin, always look to the children's ones. Manufacturers seem to take children's sun screen very seriously and typically it's more effective than the sport ones.
