how in these "online" classes do you propose getting the students in the water? why do you feel the need to take scuba classes from the dive shop? why you offered no explination of this scam? and lastly how many hypocrits agreed to your scam?

Well prehaps if you would stop being so critical and see what we're all about before getting all nasty with me you would know the answers to your own questions.

I except that you're not interested, but I don't understand why you are being so harsh with me.

MrMrEZG take it easy, I'm not hounding you or harassing you so why are you so upset with me?

Just forget if you're not interested and relax there's no reason for you to freak out.

Take it easy,
Richi

Ok - as always i caught on late but i have one thing to say.

This wouldnt work!

Part of the whole point of courses face to face is so you can have instant feedback. Conversations with the instructor and other members of the class. If you dont understand all you have to do is ask, rather than emailing or contacting via another route.

How does a student get feedback? If they have a problem in understanding - how is it explained on a personal level?

When I was doing my knowledge reviews, if i had a problem i knew my instructor was there to explain it over and over again till i understood where i was going wrong or put it in simple terms for me to understand!

A lesson over the net!? I cant see it working.

And I am not having a go Richi - or being over critical. This board it made up of people who tell each other there true opinions - thats the way we are! And people will just say what they feel about your "venture".

The technology we're working with makes one on one live interaction not only possible but the whole point.

I can see that you would be skeptical and I would be more than willing to go through your points with you, but like I said we have people that came to us and saw for themselves how it works. I don't I have to keep defending myself all I did was ask interested parties to contact me if they were interested in seeing what we're about and sharing their knowledge of diving with others interested. If that's wrong than I'm really very sorry.

Bye all,
Richi.

Richi,

To be fair to you and us, I dont think we have asked you to defend yourself or you have needed to.

We are all pretty genuine people hun. We are all just trying to find out about the latest developments in diving - considering thats partly what this forum is for.

I am sorry that you have been made to feel unwelcome, I dont think any other diver or non-diver has ever been made to feel that way since i joined the board. I hope you dont feel that way too. Everyone is welcome to give there views and opinions. Everyones opinions matter, and responses to too!

Good luck with your new venture, hope all goes to plam for you.

Thank you Scubababy,

I really appreciate you saying so. I never thought I would be in a situation where I felt unwelcome especially in a forum. I just wanted to throw out an opportunity. I could understand people getting upset if I was asking for money or really "scamming" but I'm not.

Well, I hope that's the end of that!

Thanks again, you've handled the situation brilliantly.

Take care,
Richi

Richi,

It is a shame that you jumped in like you did, and got a negative reaction. There is an excellent thread going on at the moment in the New to Scuba forum. The whole point of this thread is about diver education, or the lack of it. Simply posting what you think (and why) in that thread would probably have got quite a number of us to go and look at your site. It is very easy to just put your URL in your signature, and people here will look at it.

Here is just like any dive club. New members don't just turn up, gain instant respect, and can advertise for whatever they want. Like any dive club anywhere in the world, new people are always welcome, and then as we get to know you / you get to know us, things like this can be done nicely, and in the most appropriate way. The internet is in many ways just an extension of normal life. You need to treat people here the same as you would divers in your local club.

There are many ways to skin a cat, and unfortunately, in this instant there was a better way than that you used.

I didn't jump right in and give my opinion about anything, all I did was ask people that are interested in sharing their knowledge of diving live online to please contact me. Nothing else.

This is crazy...I'm defending myself again.

I understand what you're saying, but let's just forget it. This is taking way too much energy and I really think that ScubaBaby summed it up the best.

What a great community though...maybe I'll take up diving...anyone know of a diving teacher...lol

Okay guys, let's just it go, it's obvious that we're all good people..okay???????

.........unsupportive of your concept is it is impossible to teach diving properly without the instructor getting in the water with the student. You simply can not do that online. I'm sure you did find instructors willing to teach online, but I have to wonder about their integrity and quality. IMHO, most instructors do a poor job anyway, teaching online would probably not affect their courses much anyway.
