I live in extreme North Central Texas (just across the Red River from OK on I-35) and am looking for dive shops in my area. The only one I know of is Island Divers in Denton. Just wondering what other shops are out there within 60 miles or so.

If you are interested in going the PADI way, log onto PADI.COM and search their database. They will give you all the dive centres in your area. Don't know if any other agencies do the same thing? I'm sure somebody out there in SBLand can let youu know if there is.

I can feel your pain. . . Years ago I lived in Lawton, Ok and drove 100 miles 2 nights a week for 8 weeks to take lessons in Oklahoma City, just for a C-card that wasn't even required in those days. Ok, I also was making an air run for our dive club, in Lawton. Don't worry, you won't have to work that hard. . . Check out the dive shop you already know about, but try two other options: You'll probably prefer your early dives in Posum Kingdom lake near Wichita Falls, TX, or Tenkiller lake near Gore, Ok. Both of these lakes are better diving than Texoma lake. At both lakes there are very good dive shops that can certify you in a 3-day class. You'll learn to dive in better visability and gain some experince that will prepare you to dive Texoma for hunting fish. That's a tough lake to dive, but full of rough fish if you want to spearfish. PM me if you want more information.
