I also have not been to Vortex, but I went to morrison springs a few weeks ago, I was told its a similar set up. I did not go into the caves, but I still enjoyed myself

Thanks...weather permitting I think we are going to go tomorrow instead, wife's schedule conflicting on thursday. Anybody going to be there tomorrow, I'll be the guy with lp120's:eyebrow::)

Well the weather messed up the trip today...So tomorrow--come H*ll or High water-- I'm going!!! Anybody want to go???? :D

please report back with a vis report.

there's been talk in other threads that Vortex was closed to to an algae bloom or something.

ok! Here is the Viz report.. Arrived around 10am, got my gear unloaded, check-in taken care of, and got in the water. Raining steady, but no thunder/ lightning, I didn't see any divers other than myself, viz was 30+ but silt and algae was present, hit the bottom of the cavern, saw the grim reaper sign and hungout for the remainder of dive watching the fish and looking for crawfish. Towards the end of the first dive, maintenance man was vacuuming algae by the manmade cave, saw a few divers coming, and from there viz dropped quick, from the traffic. Second dive very similar but was tagging along with a nice dad/son combo from Louisiana( Nice to meet you Greg! Thanks for letting me tagalong!) For my first time to any spring...was a much needed change of scenery and the water temp was 66 degrees! Morrison is on my to-do-list. :):):)
