Hello guys. I am a diver living up in Chicago, and will be in Temple for business March 11th-13th. I would love to stay an extra day or two if I can find someone to dive with. Is there any place to dive near Temple? Like I said, I'm from Chicago, so low vis and low temps don't bother me. Thanks!

I think I have a granddaughter's birthday that W/E so I can't commit. But if I am in town I will go with you to the local mud hole (Stillhouse Hollow) if you don't find a better deal. And by "a better deal" I mean someone to dive with in Lake Travis in Austin which is a little over an hour south of Temple. Your 7/5 mm should come in quite handy as both lakes should be in the low 50's.

I might be available as well, but cant commit at this point. I am supposed to be at Aquarena Springs with a class that weekend. I might be able to dive on Sunday afternoon at Lake Travis though, since we are usually finished early afternoon on Sunday.

I live on the outskirts of Temple, about 20 minutes from Stillhouse Hollow Lake. I'd be happy to make a dive or two with you there. AWAP's right, your 7/5 should work just fine.

Sorry guys, looks like the trip is going to be cancelled. I was looking forward to seeing your state for the first time too. Maybe next time.

And if you're going to visit Texas for the 1st time, it would be criminal to stay in Temple without visiting Austin. Everyone needs at least one 6th St story to tell around the campfire. Keep Austin weird. Besides, there are some very cool people who live there, from SB, who would probably jump at the chance to show you the local dive sites. So, make a plan to visit soon, sorry your trip got cancelled.

Now, I, for one, would drive a leeeeetle farther south to the Comal River for the 72 degree temps, even in my 7/5. But, the Chicagoan is probably used to frigid temps, I think it's like 19 there tonight. brrrrrrrrr!
