I am upgrading my Air Source 2 to an Air Source 3. In so doing, I will be losing my ScubAlert - AS 3 does not allow connections at the lp-inflator area. So I am looking at getting a noise maker. I am thinking of selling the AquaLung Air Source 2 (w/o the ScubAlert) if anyone is interested though... I use a noise maker for teaching and communicating with my wife u/w. I am not asking for opinions on whether I need this. I do not use it often, but there are obstinate students that will not focus. The noise breaks the concentration of nothingness - sort of like saying "ah-ah" to my dogs to change their focus....

Anyway, I have seen the Acou-stix or something like that.. a little too big and bulky for my needs. I have seen long cylindrical items (like this: Scuba BC Accessory BCD Accessories), but I have not been able to find one I think I want to look more into. I saw one when I was in Roatan or Jamaica last year - it is a small canister like item that almost looks like a bell. It is sealed and does not look too different than the one linked above - shorter and stockier, but well within the size I am looking for.

Does anyone know a place (online) that sells these? I have tried the Net, and Search here, but no luck finding it is of yet....

Thanks!

My wife and I have Shakers from Brightweights which work pretty well and can be heard clearly under water. What I do not like about them though is that they are slightly unwieldy as you have to tuck them away in a BC pocket and scramble to find it when you need it.

I read recently, on ScubaBoard but can't remember in which thread, of someone who uses dog clickers to communicate under water. Apparently it works quite well and it sounds like a brilliant idea as they are small and compact. I'll definitely look around to see if I can find some.

you can get the dog clickers at petco or pet smart for about 2 bucks, work great and cheap

Yeah I have used the dog clicker in the Caribbean. I just use the balled hand and slap against the open other hand in the pool, but in the SoCal ocean, I find with most divers wearing hoods, the dog clicker does not seem to travel all that far.. I had the Scub-alert which I liked, but now that i have the Air Source 3, I cannot put the Scub-Alert between the lpi hose and the air source .. ack... I really want to find that bell one.. I liked the size, and since it was made of metal, I could always tap on the tank if need be... I suppose I can wait till DEMA in October.. or the Long Beach Scuba Show later this month...
