:DHi, Like it is in my prfile I am from Brazil but living in California. I would liketo get the diving certificate and know where it is better to get it. here or in Brazil. I don`t know too much about it so I am looking for some help.

Thank you

I don't know anything about Brazil but I am sure there are some good shops to check into in Ca for classes. The water is kinda cool in Ca so a thicker wetsuit would be needed. I don't know about water temps in Brazil. The classes you would take in Ca should be comparable to that taken in Brazil if you are using the same Agency: PADI or NAUI (I am assuming they have NAUI overseas?).

Welcome to the Scuba Board

If you get it from PADI then it is probably equally bad in both.

You probably have much more choices in California.

If you live in Los Angeles County, there is LA Co Parks And Rec scuba. They are probably the best, and they were the first in the USA.

You can probably choose from among NAUI, SSI, or YMCA almost anywhere in the USA.

If you use Padi or Naui, the training is the same in Cali or Brazil. The waters in cali is a bit cooler if that is a concern for you, that I would say take your cert in Brazil. Good luck on getting your cert. And welcome to the board.

thanks everyone for the help!!
I am realy new and don`t know too much about it.
So PADI isteh better one to get it??and if you egt your certificate you can dice everywhere in the world?( of course if the area is a place for diving).
I am looking the price too....cause I have no idea if it is alot more expensive here or in Brazil or....anyway....I have noo idea about prices =b
thanks agais:D

Oh please :deadhorse:

I can say the same thing about NAUI or SSI - give it a rest folks!

Yes, if you get cert by any of the big ones, dive ops all over the world will accept them. I do most of my diving outside the US. Never had a problem with my PADI cert.

PADI is the largest of all the agency, you can put naui and ssi together and they will still be smaller then padi. All the Agency are equally good, the real important thing is to find a good instructor that your are comfortable with.

With price, all the different agency are about the same for group lesson, semi private or private lesson. I went the private lesson route, think you get more out of them but it is the most expensive of the lesson options.

aahm...Ok...
so you guys never heard about CMAS?I ahve a friend that got this certificate in Brazil..just curiosity because I guess PADI or NAUI or SSI ..I wil start are gonna be better. I I am will start looking for places close where I am living now and see ( bay area..if there is someone from here let me know =)

Bay area, the water is pretty cool up there. When you go to the shops, see how comfortable you feel about them. If you feel comfortable, you will have an easier time learn the material.
