Greetings to all diving enthusiasts, last year in March we temporarily moved from Europe to Central Pennsylvania and I am looking for some diving buddy/buddies for my husband from our area. Me myself I don't know very much about diving, I know that my husband (38 y.o.) has an advance certificate and can dive up to approx. 130 feet, also at night, I think also in a dry suit. He has done several dives in Egypt, Greece, Slovakia and Czechia. Unfortunately he does not have his equipment here, but there is no problem for him to rent some. Is there anyone who would like to share some diving experience from PA, NY, NJ and potentially could help him get to some dive? I would be so grateful, I think he would be thrilled. Thank you! Hana

what a nice wife you are to look for dive buddy for your husband. No chance this will happen to me.😂😂.

Try posting in the Northeastern United States sub forum under United States. I've had some success in the past doing this.

What a cool wife.

State College is quite a ways from the Jersey Shore but if he were to get a motel room for the weekend there is excellent diving to be had aboard the Independence II dive boat and the Gypsy Blood dive boat, both operating out of Point Pleasant, NJ. I will attach links below.

This is cold water wreck diving. It is very fun and quite a hardcore scene. Most of the divers are diving technical profiles with corresponding equipment. The boats fill up quickly. Now is the best time of the year for NJ wreck diving as the water is at its warmest (low 50's F).

My son goes to college at Penn State, so I looked into this a bit a while ago. My son is not a cold water diver, so he doesn't plan to dive up there any time soon, but I did find some links that might help:

First, since you're in State College temporarily, if your husband is in a visiting role at Penn State he might be interested in their Scientific Diving Program, which looks pretty cool. To see Penn State faculty involved in that program, check out this page.

There's also a student scuba group, Nittany Divers Scuba Club, that has faculty and instructors listed on their page. While it's unclear from their website, Facebook page, or Instagram page if they are still active, you could contact them through any of those. Also, they do also have a scuba links page that lists scuba locations and groups in the area that might be helpful.

There also appears to be a State College scuba club, Blue Lion Divers, that is not affiliated with the University and has some contact info on their website. They also have a good list of scuba links for the region and a Facebook page with some members who might be potential dive buddies.

While some of the websites above may not be so recent, there's Laurel Divers scuba club in Altoona (not too far from State College) that appears to be very active and looks to have events on their Event Calendar going on this weekend and the next. They also have a private Facebook group that shows activity within the last month. Might be worth checking this out first since they have stuff going on this weekend.

Thank you so much Rob, this is greatly helpful, we'll check it all out! :thumb:

This looks awesome, we have been several times to Jersey Shore, it is worth of a trip. I know he likes wreck diving very much. Thank you, we will check it out!

We are in NY just over the border from Warren/Russel PA. Send me a PM if interested in heading a bit north east of State College. We have plenty of gear as we are a family of 4 that dive and my wife an daughters have taken a break from diving since we moved back to the US from Belgium.
