Hi all,

I'm off to Barbados in Jan to stay at Royal Westmoreland in the St James area. I am interested in a recommendation for a dive operator.

We will have a hire car so will plan to drive ourselves to and from the dive operator (to save time compared to pick-up and drop-offs).

Close to Royal westmoreland (near Mullins beach) is ideal, but I would be happy to drive (e.g. less than 15-20mins) in order to use a company that is well-regarded and recommended.

My wife will be doing the PADI advanced open water, and I would like to do a package of dives including accompanying her on the advance training dives (I am a PADI Divemaster)

In terms of other 'nice-to-haves' I prefer small groups (e.g. <6divers + guide), and dives based on remaining air rather than just dive time. These would be a bonus.

We used to use West Side Scuba, but they appear to be moving to Bridgetown or beyond and I think are a little off the boil compared to how they used to be. Also tried Lorenzo Scuba Dream (Carib Ocean divers) in May and was not impressed with their service or attitude. Perhaps it was off season, but it was very dissappointing.

Many thanks,

Hopeyou have not left yet. Sorry, we have all been sick here and not on line for weeks.

I would recommend John Moore of Dive Barbados ltd. He has a small 6 pack boat and fills his tanks.

I would also recommend diving Carlisle Bay. It is a great shore dive and is right across from the Minister's office by the big pavillion.

If you want to do some turtle catching and tagging then call High Tide. Other than that I am not wild about them.

A couple of new shops have opened up and I am surprised they have not jumped on your request for info.

have a great trip and I hope you get this in time.......rich

I just dove with Eco Divers last week. Great experience - small boat and Andrew will
provide transportation to the shop. My family had a great time.

We're going in mid Feb, I've heard great reviews from Ecodivers but can't verify from experience.
Have a great time, would love to hear any recommendations when you get back.

Thanks,
Mike
