I am going to be visiting Pa for the last week of August and would really like to dive Dutch Springs. It has been on my bucket list for quite a while now. I was wanting to know if anyone would be willing to buddy up with me so I can check it off my list? I'm PADI AOW certified with a little over 200 cold water dives in the Puget Sound here in Washington.

What are the exact dates you would be able to dive?
Driving/flying?
What kind of equipment would you have/need (drysuit, tanks, etc)?

What kind of bottom time?? And could you firm up the dates/time?

Firm dates and equipment used or needed would be helpful. I might be able to get there but at this point it is a little too far out. You should be able to bump a week or so before your date and get a good response. Dive buddy is an especially good site to find a buddy for dutch.

I went two weeks ago and approached a couple gearing up and asked if I could dive with them....had a nice dive.

I know you mentioned Dutch as a bucket list and that is fine - but we have an ocean dive where yellow and brown seahorses are rather shallow and plentiful... If you could drag yourself away from a quarry dive - you could go see some seahorses in NJ. Not looking to dissuade you but give you another option - tides will be dependent but might be a more memorable dive and less than 15 feet. High Tides on the weekends are reasonable - Sat 22nd is 1:37pm High Tide Sun 23rd is 2:27pm HT and Sat 29th is 8:03pm HT Sun 30th is 8:53pm HT.
You can find some video of the Maclearie Park with seahorses in this section if you are interested... :D

Thanks for the replies everybody! I'm thinking the weekend of the 29th/30th would be best for being able to hook up for a dive as that would be when people would most likely be off from work. As far as equipment goes, I'm going to have to rent it. The last time I was in Pa, I remember there being a shop pretty close to dutch springs. I'm going to start calling around for rental info this week. Bottom times for me usually are around 55 to 60 min with most of my dives having a max depth between 80 to 100 fsw with steel 100's....Basking Ridge Diver, thanks for the invite but I really want to dive in Pa. It was my home state when I was a little kid. I did not dive during the time I lived there. So it is kind of special to me to combine my favorite hobby with my home state. Next time I come back east I'll have to head to NJ because I think seahorses would be pretty damn cool too.

Cool. Good chance I will be up that week will have too see what the schedule unfolds. The two dive shops near Dutch are Lehigh Valley and Atlantis Dive shop. I don't care for Lehigh Valley, but give Atlantis a call. Was is there briefly while my buddy got a refill for the rebreather and I liked my interaction there (although brief).

What exactly do you need to rent? I have spare yoke reg and single hp100. Shoot me a PM when it gets closer. Even if we don't dive together, you are welcome to borrow them.

Yeah. I have gear you can use if we dive together. It is too soon for me to plan as of yet. Maybe if I behave next week in Mexico my wife will let me dive when I get back. I may have to bring her along and let her play at the water park.

I'll need to keep this dive option in mind. My wife has not been excited about a quarry site but pointed out this post. Thanks for the post.

I may be up for Sunday 8/30, busy on that Saturday. Let me know your plans for that day.

I've been having problems finding buddies at Dutch since the buddy finder on their site went down near the end of last year. Just this weekend I put this up: Dutch Springs - Buddy Finder hopefully I can get people to sign up and start using it.
