I want to try out a boat dive, so I signed up for the Express Diver boat dive, Aug 6th, at 1:30pm.

This makes it a bit easier to wake up and take a drive into Long Beach without having to wake up at 4am.

They charge $85 for a 1/2 day trip, 2 tanks included.

Plenty of room aboard, http://www.expressdivers.com/

Please let me know if anyone is interested. This is will be my first dive out of OW status and I'm really looking forward to getting in the water.

I can't make August 6th.

I've never dove this boat. Is the boat called "Island Time" and the company Express Divers?

Is the Aug. 6th trip going to Catalina?

I normally dive the Channel Islands out of Santa Barbara and Ventura, but I occasionally like to go to Catalina from So. Cal.

Tell me what you think of this boat operation.

Just a bit of info on the trip yesterday. The boat is very fast and very spacious. There wasnt much in the way of food, but if you want to get 2 dives in this is a good boat. Great dive platform off the back, two nice large ladders to get back up on. We went out to Catalina near Frog Rock for our first dive and then to Hamilton Cove for our second. I would dive the boat again in a heartbeat.

Ran into a diver from Michigan that was here visiting his daughter, so the 3 of us dove together for the two dives. The rest of the boat was Sport Chalet students doing their first two OW dives, so basically it felt like the three of us had the whole ocean to ourselves.

Vis was great, probably 30' or more, water temp was 66 at 50ft.

Looks like ur just a couple of miles away. I have a 26' deck boat and we head over to catalina every once in a while. I setting up a 3 day trip to avalon in september 6,7,8. I have 2 other friends with boats and were planning to stay at the hermosa hotel. cheap $25 per nite. I take about 5 divers on my boat, any more and it gets too crowded with all of the gear. Everyone chips in for the gas, mooring, sodas and beer. We all have a good time. Let me know if this is something that you might like to do. Everyone is a firefighter on either urban search and rescue or swiftwater rescue. We try to bring a paramedic along as an extra anchor.

Sounds very interesting, email me the $$ details.

So far the plan is this. 3 boats to Catalina. 2 friends with boats who

haven't made it as far as Catalina. They putt around the coast line nothing further than that. The line fish and I like to spear fish. Who knows what we will find out there.

Day 1 - diving on the NE side of Island, nite food and beer.
Costs - Boat and car fuel, mooring, and parking about $125+- each. Fuel

up here and top off in Avalon on the evening of 9/6. Costs in Avalon is

about 3.50/4.00 a gallon
Leave 9/6 RFD Station 11 @ 0800 sharp.
Boats in the water Huntington Harbor by 1000.
Catalina by 1100.
We're planning to moor in Avalon.

Day 2 - Farnsworth Banks if the water is good, nite more food and beer.

Sleep at the Hermosa Hotel cost about $35 a nite. Toll Free (877)

Thats the plan, but subject to change (weather).

My cell # is 951-743-1343 if you have any questions. Bill

Sorry about that. It was the first block of time post summer crowds that I could arrange to get a large group together. Maybe next time.
