A particularly complex rescue operation yesterday afternoon for the Air Rescue personnel .

Areus doctors and operators were alerted to a very high-risk situation that occurred in a stretch of sea off the coast of Olbia and Porto San Paolo .

A 61-year-old Lombard diver , diving at a depth of approximately 30 meters, became ill , likely due to incorrect equalization. Areus personnel took charge of the diver and diagnosed him with decompression sickness.

The man was immediately transferred to Cagliari, where he underwent treatment in a hyperbaric chamber.

The case raises the issue of the hyperbaric chamber at La Maddalena, used only for routine treatments despite meeting all the requirements for lifesaving interventions.
