Camping in the Parks of the St. Lawrence, Ontario Canada
The Long Sault Parkway will have a temporary interruption in throughway traffic between Ingleside and Long Sault starting on September 1, 2010. This interruption is due to construction work underway for the paving and bridge rehabilitation project. Access to the bike path will also be affected. There will be no throughway traffic to pedestrians and cyclists for the duration of this project. Completion of the project is anticipated for December 2010.
All campers are asked to follow the normal check-in procedure with arrival at the East Gate (Long Sault entrance). The check-in process will be the same as usual with the exception of access to Woodlands Campground & Day-Use and McLaren Campground. Campers for both Woodlands Campground and McLaren Campground will have to turn around and take County Road 2 to Ingleside to enter the campgrounds from the West Gate (Ingleside entrance). Woodlands Day-Use visitors will enter through the West Gate as normal. The West Gate entrance is approximately 5 minutes west of the East Gate entrance. At the West Gate entrance please have your campsite permit ready to show the gate attendant.
There will be no access to campsites or diving at Lock 21 on Macdonell Island or to the boat launch on Hoople Island. Boat launches at Mille Roches Campground and Woodlands Day-Use will be available through to September 6 and the boat launch at the West Gate entrance will continue to be available through to the end of the season October 11, 2010.
Starting on Tuesday, September 7, ALL registrations for camping at Woodlands Campground and McLaren Campground will be handled through the West Gate entrance.
While this may cause some inconvenience in the short-term, we will have a much improved roadway and bridge structures for the opening of our parks for the 2011 season. Thank you for your business this year and for your cooperation.
