Hey guys, I just moved back to the area not long ago so I have not dove the whiskey in at least 4 years. I am sure with the storms and what not some things might have changed. Last time I dove it I recall there was a small parking lot directly in front of where the wreck was. We would swim straight out using a power line and the apex of a roof as a visual guide. When the line appeared to be touching the top of the roof you were directly over the wreck. Is that still the system or has the house been blown away?

Also, what is the best time to go again as far as the tide is concerned?

Thanks, I am just looking to get back in the water.

Tides are not a factor...
Park in the State Park lot next to Bahama Bobs, or the overflow lot across the street.

Line up the E wall of Bahama Bobs with its sign, swim out 180* until you are in 11-13 ft of water. Listen for the barnacles, look for the fish. You'd be surprised how close to the beach it actually is.

Tow a dive flag.

The stern is completely sanded in, although there is a good relief about 30ft forward of the rudder.

Is this the same route we took that one day?

;)

Here are the step-by-step instructions for a guarenteed method on how to find the Whiskey Wreck.

  1. send a PM to SupRBugman and tell him that you want to dive the Whiskey Wreck and will take him to lunch at Hooters afterwards.
  2. Show up at appointed time and follow SupRBugman into the water. He will take you directly to the wreck.
  3. Go to Hooters afterwards for Beer and Wings
.

Works every time. :D

WOW! Wait a minute! I though that was MY secret!

LOL...I was thinking about Saturday, early morning but with the storm rolling in I am not sure. I am also thinking about Friday afternoon after I get off work-about 4:30ish. I figure most of the tourist will be heading in by that time. If this is doable then I am all for company. If anyone is interested let me know.
