Where do you wear your wrist computer when lobster hunting? Mine is non-AI and I have a SPG. I'm in CA.

Do you wear it on the upper arm?

Since I have the SK7 compass on the DSS boot which cannot be worn on the wrist for lobster hunting, I thought I may just rent an analog 3-gauge console with a compass and forsake the computer and SPG for lobster hunting.

Thoughts, advice?

Anyone going on the "Truth" on 29,30 September?

Cheers.

I don't wear a wrist computer for just that reason. I have a consol mount and a retractor mount for a backup.

i'm right handed, so i wear my gauges and carry my light with my left. catch bugs with right hand

Most everyone I know that uses Scuba to catch lobsters does not wear any guages on their wrists. I Always wondered how the DIR people would respond if you said that "wearing any guages on your wrists would not work for this paticular type of diving".

All my gauges are on a neoprene sleave that pulls up onto my left arm (I'm right handed).

I dive DIR.

I wear my Vytec and my SK7... gotta have them both. I mean, I need to know where I'm going, and I need to know depth, etc.

I have the Tobin mounts (www.deepseasupply.com) They're on Bungees. If I gotta dig into a hole, I just slide the thing up my arm. No biggie. When I've got buggy, I slide it back down.

Caught a zillion bugs this way last season and the season before. Isn't an issue. For the accasional scratch on the Vytec, who cares? The cover is like $5.99 on eBay. I replace it once or twice a year, anyway.

I also dive with a Can light. I just tape up the light head so I get a narrow pencil beam. I can't imagine lobstering with some heavy hand-held light. A goodman handle leaves both my hands available if bugster bolts.

Of course, Lobstering isn't diving. Its Hunting.

I have an Aeris AI. I do not wear anything on my wrists when diving for that reason. You never know when you will need the free hand that computer is on will be needed to grab a hold of Lobzilla.

I'm far from being a timid lobster diver and I've never had a problem with either my bottom timer, computer or my compass while reaching for bugs.
They are bungi'ed up and will slide out of the way easy enough.
Never more than minor scratches and replacement covers wouldn't cost much.
I wouldn't have those tools anywhere else.

I guess that if sliding the guages up the arm works, then that is the DIR answer. It does seem like an extra step to be done both before and after each time you catch a bug.
