Hi,

I am planning to go to Maldives in mid Nov for 1 week. I am hoping to do LOB for 4 days & spend 3 days on land, just relaxing. Any recommedation on which vessel, dive operator etc...

Btw, anyone been to Maldives during this time of the year? How is the diving, vis?

Appreciate much...thanks.

Hi there,

Was in Maldives November 2003. Stayed at Medhufushi Resort - very nice. Good dive operations - Wrener Lau Dive Centre ( I think it's a German operation). Viz was pretty good, not great. Got to see HUGE Manta rays, my first time. My dive group also saw a small whale shark - I was about 10-15 feet behind them and miss it....the area was full of planktons and viz was not that good that day.

The rest of the dives were ok... Nothing spectecular. But then, I don't think Medhufushi is really geared towards divers. They did arrange an u/w wedding for my friend and his wedding party though.

Overall I think Maldives is a great vacationing spot, a little pricey (especially alcohol), but very relaxing. Depending on the island/area you go, I'm sure you'll find great diving too. While I was not overwhelmed by the diving at Medhufushi, I did see manta rays and learned to windsurfed while I was there. So overall, still a great trip.

Enjoy.
