Hi Scuba Buddies -
As promised, I am posting live from Fantasy Island to let you all know how things are on the beautiful island of Roatan. We arrived on Saturday with absolutely no problem...the airport is business as usual and we saw more activity this trip. It looks like the island is beginning to attract more tourists.
Fantasy Island is offering a two for one special that has drawn a number of divers this week. The general consensus is that it was just too good to pass up. We are reaping the rewards of that decision - the diving has been great! Yesterday a strong current provided the perfect opportunity to enjoy some amazing drift diving. It's the closest thing to flying I've ever experienced...I felt like Superman!
We have seen some interesting critters. On our first day we spotted a lionfish...not what I was hoping to see. I am told that there have been several sightings. The big news is that the divemasters at Fantasy Island spotted a whale shark two weeks ago near the resort! We are hoping he/she will return for a visit.
I will do my best to continuing reporting "Live from Fantasy Island". Of course, my main priority will be diving and whale shark hunting, but I'm sure I'll find time to post when I'm not enjoying drinking "Cajun Boogaloos" that the bartenders at Fantasy Island have learned to prepare in a excellent fashion!
More later...come on down to Roatan - there is nothing to fear here
