Philkade is gone. Apparently still in country, but under a new name and no signs that it's a dive charter.

What are good live aboard choices to consider now for the Similans and Surin that would feature small numbers of passengers (less than 20) and a good level of luxury?

Not sure when you plan to travel but have a look at MV Nautica best boat for low numbers but no availability till April and she doesn't go as far as Surin.

My choice would be SY June Hong Chian Lee (The Junk) because she is an absolutely stunning boat and definately large enough to accomodate 18 divers.

S/Y Siren does offer a classy trip but not in the Similans or Surin until December 2010.

As far as I know MV Philkade has become a private boat.

Thanks for the input. The Siren ships look great, especially the one due to launch this Summer. Only 8 passengers!

The Mandarin Siren takes indeed only 8 passengers but will only operate in Indonesia though and not Thailand.
The SY Siren is currently in the Andaman Islands (india) and fully booked until the end of this Andaman Sea season.
