Hi:
This is towards people who dive double Faber LP50s; I've never done a dive with double 50s. Regarding trim and balance characteristics, do you like it better than single tank diving?

I also have a double LP85s and thinking of doubling them up but am concerned about the weight being too much. I don't know how they will trim in the water as doubles.

Or should I go and double my AL80s which I already have (as singles).
Most of my dives are shallower than 100 feet.

Thanks.

Al 50s or faber LP 50s?

Faber LP50s. I corrected my original post as well. Thanks.

My double 50s are my favorite tanks to dive. I have double 104s as well, and had lp 80s, and 95s as well before going CCR. I haven't used a single tank in several years.
The trim, balance and redundancy of the 50s is great. They are lower profile than larger doubles so you could potentially get places in them that you couldn't with a single 80. The LP85s would make nice doubles too, but you are worried about them being too heavy? Too heavy for what? The Aluminum 80s would work too, but the bouyancy swing greater with aluminum tanks. If you are diving a Drysuit, the steel tanks are a better choice. I usually use mine for shallow scooter dives or just for fun dives. I know all dives are supposed to be fun, but some require more gas.

Ive used LP 50s for Backmount doubles for shore dives, Sidemounted for both my primary tanks for shore and wreck diving and as bailout for when I went to rebreather. I prefer them over Al 80s and LP85s for the dives I was doing. When I needed more gas I went with HP100s and then CCR. But I was able to do two wreck dives on my LP50s and it was super easy getting into the tanks by myself on the boat.
