I am heading to the Caymans in November for 10 nights. I plan on spending a few days on Grand Cayman since I have a NSO, but after that I want to head over to one of the sister islands for some good diving and relaxation. I am looking for recommendations on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac: which do you think is better and why, and recommendations for place to stay? One dive I really would like to make is the MV Capt. Keith Tibbets. Is it possible to stay on Little Cayman and dive the Tibbets? My girlfriend does snorkel, so which island has better snorkeling opportunities?

I just got back form Little Cayman. I haven't been to the Brac, but Little Cayman was very nice. We didn;t dive the Tibbets, but was told that some of the dive shops will go over there for special trips (but I think it's a pretty long boat ride). There is a wreck (the Soto Trader) on the south side of LC, but almost no one dives there (however, we talked our shop into taking us, and it was a good dive - lots to see).

We snorkled two days down at Point o'Sand beach. It was really nice - saw almost everything we saw at depth in about 8 feet of water, as well as a bunch we did not. Big coral heads, lots of debris to pick through, etc... saw rays, barracuda, porcupine fish, cowfish, trunkfish, parrotfish, etc... as well as a nurse shark.

We sayed at Conch Club condos, and it was really quite pleasant. Dive shop was extremely friendly and knowledgable.

There's snorkeling on LC, but not at most (any?) of the resorts. There's some other places to snorkel you just have to get to them. It's possible for a snorkler to come along on the dive boat probably for a price, some of the dive sites start shallow enough for snorkeling. I think LC generally starts shallower than Brac.

Little Cayman Beach Resort tentatively schedules a trip to Brac once a week to dive the Tibbetts. I think it was Wednesday or Thursday. Depends on conditions and how many people want to go, so they won't always make the trip.

There are only a handfull of small places to stay on LC, all good in their way it depends what you like. If you search on this borad for Little Cayman or look at the "Similar Threads" automatically generated at the bottom of this page you will find discussions and comparisons of them all.

Thanks for the help, and poining out the similar threads!
