Thanks Charlie, yes I meant after a couple of months without being recharged they are useless. Like left sitting in a camera or light. NIMH are great if you charge soon before use. I was not referring to lifespan, well-cared for NIMH will last longer (in terms of cycles) than you will ever likely need. I like to charge my light after use so it is ready to go next time, so I chose li-ion.
