Liquivison X1 - Any reason not to purchase?

I would like better logging software. I bought an outside vendor's software that is supposed to be compatible with the X1's output, but I've never figured out how to export the files to it. The existing software does not make it easy to sort your dives, to be able to pull out cave dives, or trimix dives.

I agree. This is one area that I feel could be better. What third party S/W are you talking about? I'd like to try it.

As for the OP, It's a rock solid computer. You will be more than happy with your purchase.
 
If you square profile dive maybe, tables dont work very well how we dive. I cut tables when I go sit on a wreck and then go up. Moving laterally through the water on a scooter at various depths for 100+ minutes makes planning pretty tricky. Our exploration takes us on any number of depth changes and runtimes. The X1 with VPlanner Live or GF (Shearwater or Liquivision) handles this very well. I do my best to plan out a dive for depth/time including any legs that I think may happen but that doesnt always work.

When you put it that way, so is all the other computers used for scuba.

I did (and sometimes still but rarely) dive with a Tec2G in computer mode. I find that if I do it for a while it dulls the computer between my ears, and I don't like that. It's easy enough to plan multi-level dives ahead of time if you know the depths.

I think they are both top notch trimix computers. I'd say the most important question is which deco algorithm do you prefer? I believe these are the options:
X1 = VPM-B, VPM-B/E, VPM-B/FBO, ZHL-GF
Predator = Bühlmann ZHL-16C

As I mentioned previously, I think being able to plan your dives (and cut your backup tables) directly from the X1 can be a big plus. I also like the fact that I can plan my dives on my laptop with V-Planner and match it exactly with my dive computer. If you don't use V-Planner that obviously would not be a plus. Also, as it stands, you cannot plan GF in V-Planner, but that may change in the future.

I've heard a number of Predator owners say how they like the size of its screen better, and that if there are any issues, the color turns from green to red. I personally like the smaller size of the X1 and don't need any color changes to get my attention.

Power may also be of interest to some. I like the rechargeable battery in the X1 and I've gotten excellent burn times between charges. The down side is if you loose the charger, or leave on a extended vacation without it, you may be forced to purchase another one or have someone send the original, if possible. The X1 does come with an assortment of plug converters for international travel.
