Hey everyone,

I am a diver without a buddy (;-0 ). I am taking a solo trip mid april. I was thinking of Lions Dive Resort, Bonaire. But, I have read it's not the best place to go solo...most visitors there are serious divers with buddies.

Does anyone have any views on this? Should I look elsewhere as a single diver?

Basic info: Budget hovers around > $2000.00, time frame one week, Saturday to Saturday.

Thanks,

Thomas

I don't think you will have any trouble finding someone to buddy up with. There are lots of divers around and for the most part they are willing to let others join them. Come to think of it, I would be happy to be a rental buddy for the low, low price of air fare and a cot.hehehe Lions Dive is next door to Buddy Dive, you can pass between their docks through a small gate so it is easy to check around the dock at BD as well. I suspect that you can find someone on the dive boats to buddy up with. If you have not tried this, go to www.bonairetalk.com and post a message looking for a buddy--give the dates and place you are staying. There are a lot of really nice people on that board, someone may be looking for a buddy as well.

Hi Thomas:
#1 Idea:
I was a solo diver for 2 1/2 years. I never had a problem paying a DM to be my buddy. I did this in Cozumel and in the Keys. In the BVI's a had an instructor as a buddy and paid him.
Not only do I think it helped me to become a better diver, I had the piece of mind, knowing I had a DM/ instructor watching only me.

#2 Idea:
You can jump on my Cayman group trip in April. There is still room, and we have several other single divers.

Unfortunately, I am locked in on the dates I can take....if your trip was just one week later I could have made it. :(

First of what I hope and believe will be many such trips. If anyone is going to be there during April 12 - April 19, drop by and we can go dive.
