I'll be doing my rescue diver course in about 2 weeks. Questions:

1) $400 USD, is that good? My AOW was $295. Why would the RD be more expensive?

2) I've forgotten many of the basic things that I was taught in my OW, e.g some of the hand signals (I remember the important ones of course), the amount of pressure at 20m under the water (50 atm??), readiing off the table for decompression, what to do in a strong current, etc. Stuff like that. Is there a database, a link, a website, something that can refresh my memory?

Check and see if your LDS has the PADI OW on DVD. You could just watch the bits you need brushing up on. I know that mine rents them. Or you could just go back and re-read your OW text and AOW text.

I know that when I did my rescue it was more expensive than AOW because the AOW was largely done in the ocean. So I was paying for the instructor's time, the text and the pic card. With rescue there's more classroom time, pool time and ocean time. So you'd have to pay for the more time the instructor spends teaching, as well as pool time.

K i just called my LDS and they have the PADI OW on DVD, for $55 CAD ($43 USD, roughly)!! And they sell the manual for $65!!! What the hell....

Hey Sepandee

Just wondering how come you don't have your own copy? Did you not have to buy the book before you started your open water course like we did?

oh thanks for the quick repy-good luck with your rescue diver course.
