I have a sherwood genesis 120 hp tank that is leaking a little bit of air from the bottom hole on the tank valve. I hooked up another tank and it didn't leak so I know it's not the O-ring. I just had a annual done how can it be leaking?

By "annual" you probably meant the annual VIP, right?

We need more info to help you.
Is the valve open or closed when your hear the leaking air?
Can you hear the leak when the reg is connected (and the tank valve opened)?
How is the tank valve currently configured (DIN or yoke)?

The only thing that an LDS will change on a tank valve during a VIP is the tank neck o-ring. There are a lot of other o-rings inside the tank valve mechanism. These don't get changed usually...until something starts to leak. FWIW, very few people perform periodic tank valve overhauls at regular intervals.

if what you call a bottom hole on the valve, the burst disc?
see if you can give it a little bit of a turn to tighten it.If you feel uncomfortable doing that take it to the LDS and have them do it for you.Probably need to change the burst disc if it is old.Not a big deal.

If was the burst disk leaking it should be leaking all the time. If so it should be replaced and tighten with a torque wrench.

However, tt sounds like the leak is occurring only when a reg is attached. But the OP's description is fuzzy to me. Would you give a better description what exactly you have done and not done?

If I understand correctly the valve is leaking from the little hole that is drilled into the valve and is caused by a worn or dirty o ring of the actual DIN connector of the reg.....try a new o ring.

I have a HP DIN valve and the leak is coming from the little hole on the bottom/back part of the valve. It only does it when I turn it ON. The reg has a new O-ring and when I put it on my other tank it doesn't leak so It's not the reg. The leak is coming from the small hole on the back of the tank valve. I had it VIPed in JAN 10.

The only way to get a leak out of this hole is if there is not a good seal between the base of the valve and the o ring on the DIN connection of the reg.
This could be caused by debris inside the valve, a worn o ring or not screwing the reg in far enough.
......in this case (since you indicate you are using a new o ring) I'd guess it is the latter reason.

Is it possible for you to take a picture and show us where the leak is originating?

The hole you describe sounds a lot like the hole on the valve disc burst assembly, which the manufacturer recommends should be changed at the time of each hydrotest (every 5 years). Did anyone mess with it during the VIP? You may have to ask the person who handled your tank during the VIP process.

We're going to need pictures if you want us to help you on this one.
