Walter:
Haven't we done this elsewhere?

Only 3 pool sessions? I don't introduce SCUBA until the 3rd session.

We may have tried this before? My pool sessions are usually 3-4 hours each and I add sessions as needed

I've been there with him. He has also been know to do 1 on 1 for those special student who needs the extra help as well as letting you come back for refresher sessions if needed.

Why the 25 meter underwater swim. I know it is part of many agencies swim test but I personally can't understand the reason for it.

Of how you conduct it. If you don't introduce scuba till the 3rd session what do you do the first couple of sessions?

I think the first session in the pool gives the instructor a chance to observe how comfortable each student is in the water. My first session we didn't leave the 3ft. part of the pool until the very end and just learned how the equipment worked (inflate/deflate, SPG, etc.). No skills at all (no demonstration that is).

I also wonder about the 25m underwater swim. Is this a way of determining cardio-vascular fitness? If you can do 25m, you must be reasonably fit?

Actually, I was surprised that 200yds w/ no equipment (mask/fins/snorkel) is "PADI equivalent" to 300yds with equipment. Except for the time that it takes in a small pool (only four could reasonably fit across the pool), I'd think both would be reasonable.

Pool session 1 seems verrry long with more than a few students (per instructor at least).

I thought this was a revolution, looks like the same old quick and dirty to me.
Nothing quick and dirty about it. There are no new scuba skills just different standards. Where is your teaching order?

25 meter swim is a way of confirming VO2 status
The swim test is 200 meters thats a little further than 200 yds.
I keep my classes to a small instructor to student ratios. I have done larger classes but then I will take the time to work the quality with each student personally if required.
As some of you have noticed this is similar to PADI and even some other agencies, but only similar. The standards I expect may make the difference. Now put up your programs lets compare and improve ourselves
