I received the O-rings today. Silicone 34 x 3 mm. Since they are only sealing out a delta of 3-4 ATM, I'm not sure why their durometer would be relevant.
What am I missing?
Durometer is a factor in proper seal design. Higher duro = greater force required to compress (insertion force in this case), less compliance, and less elasticity.
What are your impressions of the parts and the fit & feel of the installation?

I'm aware of what durometer measures, my question was directed towards why it is relevant for the relatively low pressure differential we're discussing. My subjective impression is that the replacement rings are harder than the S&S "blue" it is replacing. Fit feels good and the battery cover still makes that reassuring "snap" when fully engaged.

Like I wrote- it's part of the design of the seal assembly, and it's relevant at any delta-P. Too high a durometer can lead to damaged parts during assembly or service. The compliance is a factor as well. Water can be tough to seal, and it will even permeate many materials. I've seen water pass what was a tight seal with only 6" of depth- the mating part (glass) had a fine, lapped finish that was substituted for the polished finish spec'd, and the water would migrate instantly across the seal surface.Glad to hear they look like a good solution, as I have a few old strobes... Thanks for posting your experience.
