I'm in the process of setting up a new dive camera. After research ( and a photo class with Cathy Church ) I decided on the Oly 350. I've actually got 2 cameras, ( so I have a spare ) and the Ikelite housing. I'm also going to go with the Ikelite strobes ( Ds 50- and 125 ) ( Got a nice DS 50 on ebay ).

I'd like some recommendations on reasonably priced lenses, both macro and wide angle what would work.

Thanks so much.

( And thanks also for posting your gorgeous underwater pics- they're my inspiration :D)

Here's the Ikelite webpage for your housing.

Olympus SP-350 Underwater Housing

Look under "optional accessories" for Ikelite lenses and adapters for other mfr's lenses. Once you decide on your adapters or lenses you may be able able to find them on eBay or used from other sources.

Try : Reef Photo, Helix, B&H Photo and KEH photo. LiesurePro had some Sea&Sea Motor Marine II macro lenses on close out.

IMHO you may want to start off with just a wide angle lens. The SP-350 has some pretty good macro capabilities out of the box. You were very fortunate to have taken a class with Cathy Church.

With the Ikelite housing, you will need an adapter that will allow you to attach lens adapters to the housing. IMHO, the INON lens adapters - WA and 165 for macro - are the best choice; unfortunately, they are expensive. The lens adapters come in two types, one with a bayounet mount and another with 67mm thread mount. BTW, macro is instant gratification, WA is difficult.

I've got the above mentioned system, SP-350, ikelite housing, DS-125 strobe with wired TTL flash, Inon wide angle bayonet mount lens, and I recommend getting a twin handle grip even if you're using only a single strobe...........NICE advanced system, one of the best without going full DSLR and the associated costs.

LEARN THE CAMERA! tons of potential there.
