A few shots out of a Canon IXUS 100 in a Canon case with built-in flash from Lembeh and Bunaken in Manado. Stayed with Two Fish Divers at both locations.

Very nice- lenses/ strobes?

I keep telling myself that when I'm rich and successful, I will also make the trip to Lembeh....... one day eh?

Thanks!

It's a Canon SD780/IXUS 100, just the built-in flash.

Definitely worth the trip, just make sure you get more than 2 days in, that's all we had time for :(

I feel the same way about the Maldives - one day!

Dang! 2 days and you got a bunch of great shots- Kudos!

I was doing a bit of gear-lusting at :.:..Oceanic Focus...Singapore's one stop underwater photography equipment...Underwater Strobe, Underwater housing, Inon, Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Ikelite, You name it!!.... If you're ever thinking to come out this way.... The area I'm in is actually not that expensive... for the Maldives. I think full board at the hotel is $120/night for a couple. Check my website for a few pics with Canon S-95 in Patima using ambient light. laamudiveandsurf

Those are great shots! I like the octopus, and that whale is cool. Just yesterday I booked 8 nights at Lembeh resort for later this year. I can't wait!

great photos...reinforces the old adage about the photographer, not the camera.

Have to be rich and successful to go there.... - Lembeh and 2fish diver is a real option if u wanna dive at moderate dive prices AND dont want to spent 100+ bucks the night.
I was at 2 fish Bunaken and Lembeh last year in February, i was travelling alone, and you know most resorts charge for the room calculated on 2 people, wich means you quickly have 50,- or 80,- or even more...
At 2 fish diver i had the budget room - sure not really high class, but i didn´t miss anything, the price for the room including full board (!) was about 25,-€ / night.
OK food was not quite simple mostly, but it was acceptable.
Diving was great - specially because i had that superb guide Opo in Bunaken, guiding in Lembeh needs improvement.
When i was again at Lembeh last November i ended at Bastianos Lembeh - again i found Opo as guide, he changed from 2fish Bunaken to Bastianos....:)
Basitanos has a bit higher rated rooms but i liked it more - better food, full working Wifi even in budget rooms, better budget rooms and view, nice pool, price at Bastianos was about +10 € compared...

great photos...reinforces the old adage about the photographer, not the camera.

He has a point and shoot camera and all shots are super macro to max 1 foot conditions look good with no silt and the black sand makes sure you have limited black scatter. All the shots have gone through some extensive editing. Besides I see that there is a mix of photoshop and Picasa. I wonder how Picasa has been used if after Photoshop or even on its own is not clear from the exif

So this shows that with good subjects, getting close and shooting mostly macro or close up, if you know what to with the editing you don't need a lot of gear to get by

Still having at least manual mode helps! You can see the limitations of the slow shutter speed and the lack of depth of field that the camera imposes in some shots if you really want to look at super detail

All in all awesome sets of pics
