UPDATE: I received a phone call this morning from Leisurepro. The person told me that this issue was escalated to him for resolution and insisted that they do not double-charge.
Let me be clear about this whole thing, I agree that I might not have been double-charged in the traditional sense of the term. However, the original authorization for the full amount (that consequently reserved that amount from my available balance on my bank account), combined with the two *additional* and *separate* charges for the two items that were levied against my account when the items were shipped in practical terms resulted in a "double-charge" in my view. Granted the authorization was said to expire in 7 business days so it is not that LeisurePro took double the money from my account; the way this worked out just meant that LP took their funds when the items were shipped, which is fine, but the authorization that was set up was still active for the full amount as well and I was told that this would be released within business 7 days by the people I spoke to at LP last week.
My gripe about this situation is that I effectively have to remember in the future that if I ever were to make use of LP again that I have to make sure I have double the amount of money transferred to my online purchases account because of this round-about way LP seems to go about charging for purchases; i.e. the authorization they activate against my available balance at the time of the transaction, while it will be credited back to my account and LP never touches those funds, combined with the item charges when they ship the items still means that my account receives a request for funds for double the amount initially.
As a side note, I purchased in excess of $500 worth of items from another SCUBA gear vendor online yesterday and no problems like this at all. I also purchased several items from Amazon over the weekend and still no such issues either. Believe me I was looking for this scenario to be duplicated during both those two purchases and I only see one single charge in both cases.
Since this issue has been resolved by the authorization having disappeared off my account I consider this matter closed. LP has their rightful amount of money and the authorization has been released against my account which means the money that was held has become available again for me to use so nobody owes anybody any money. This matter is now history for me.
