is Leisure Pro a good place to purchase a BC from or is it junk stuff??

There are several threads about LP and other i-net sellers. Read through them.

My opinion: I would buy just about anything from them.

I got a Great BC from them. they aren't junk they are just Grey Market.

not everything is grey market. It depends on the MFG.

so basically it is all new stuff I mean i am looking at a bc on there that my LDS wants 250.00 dollars more than what LP is selling it for

check the warranty on the item. If it's a MFG warranty, then it's intended for sale in the United States.

If it's an LP warranty then it's grey market - meaning - not intended for sale in the U.S. and the MFG may not cover it under a US warranty. Which may or may not matter to you. On a BCD - I'd go for it (buy the cheaper one)

If it's an LP warranty, then it probably indicates that LP is not an authorized distributor for that particular manufacturer so they must warrant the product through their own organizational structure. If LP has to issue an LP warranty, it does not mean, necessarily, that the product is not intended for sale in the United States.

LP's warranty is just as good as the manufacturers and I have yet to hear of anyone having problems with LP's warranty. Everyone that has used it that I know of has had good experiences.

It's the exact same thing that's hanging on your LDS wall for way less money. As a courtesy to your LDS, see if they will come near LP price. If they will do it for +10% then I will buy local. If not, LP wins again.

you have just seen what is the classic argument versus internet sales: Cost.
I don't want to go into the dissertation on it, but suffice it to say that you will pay through the nose to use the LDS, which you have already seen.
If you used the LDS to make your decision, IMHO morally you're obligated to at least try to use them. Negotiate - show them the leisurepro price and make a deal with them. Whatever you think it's worth to buy from them, make that your bottom line.

me, I wouldn't give the *******s a plug nickel more than LP, including freight. LDS's have no more right to egregious profit than any other industry, and if the consumer can find a cheaper outlet it is incumbent upon them to utilize it. It's called a "free market". The communist gear manufacturers and LDS's ought to embrace it rather than fight it.

As for warranty, well, that is somewhat of a problem, but Lp does a good job and there's not much that can go wrong with a BC.
As you buy more equipment, the importance of the LDS service will become significantly less of an issue. But as a new buyer, it's your call. Just decide how much extra you want to give to the LDS, and consider it a gift.

The problem with giving your LDS a chance to compete is that too often the owner just gets upset that you even considered Leisure Pro, gives you a lecture on why LP is evil, and brands you as an undesirable customer if you buy online anyway. Then you may get a cold shoulder and slow service, if any service at all, in the future.

Sometimes it's better to not even let the LDS know you're in the market for something unless you're pretty sure you will be buying it from them.
