Hi all,

That's it, i made my mind and i am going to buy the Legend, now basically my only last concern is what to choose!
LX or not?

What do you think?

I went with the LX and am glad that I did. I really like the adjustable cracking pressure and use it on almost every dive. I de-tune it on land before each dive so that I can enter with little chance of a free-flow. Once in the water and ready to descent, I crank it open almost all the way. IMO it's worth the extra bucks.

David,

I'm in exactly your same position and have asked the same question here on the board yesterday (see http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=175874). I've only one response there but it was helpful. If you do some creative searching on the threads and particularly look at the related threads list at the bottom of the page you'll see some good threads to follow. For some reason a search using keywords doesn't seem to return all the thread titles out there that would seem to be most applicable. Perhaps I am not manipulating the forum the right way, I don't know. I'd link here to them but I just tried to search for them again and the path is so circuitous I couldn't get tp them. Good luck.

Anyway, I've done some intense questioning of my LDS and the AL rep and two aqualung techs to see if I want the Supreme or not and the LX or not. I'm going to order the LX (supreme) because I've seen enough people on here who appreciate being able to de-tune the performance in some instances that it makes sense. As long as I am spending over 500US I figure I oughta get that option in the event I find I want it.

Enjoy your purchase.

Hi,

Actually, I did make some search in the forum and I found many thread regarding the topic or similar topics that helped me, I guess that I just wanted to get some answer like: " Go for the LX" ... But basically this is the way...

Actually, in your thread, you asked about the difference in the Legend vs the Legend Supreme. (meaning should you get the Supreme 'cold water' version)

The above poster in this thread is asking about the Legend vs the Legend LX. (meaning should I get the one with the adjustable knob).

Though the question is similar because of the regulator family, it's about two entirely different features on the regulator. Not a big deal, but just FYI so the difference in the threads might help understand it more..

You can actually tune either the Legend LX or the Legend LX Supreme the same way. They are the same phyical regulator. So if you bought the Legend LX instead, you could tune the IP on it to match the Surpreme, etc... FYI.

.

This might not help your decision, but I think most people who own the LX will tell you that they really like that and that's the way to go. In reality, most divers don't adjust it much or any after they get it set.

Also most divers who own the regular Legend will tell you they like it fine and don't need the LX. A few will tell you that they wished they'd gotten it.

I rarely tune my LX adjustment knob so I think either would have worked for me.

However, if I hadn't gotten the LX, chances are I'd wish that I had. So my advice is that if you think even remotely that you might want the LX, then go ahead and get the LX so you won't have 'wish envy' later. I think that MSRP price difference in the two is $100 bucks. You'll prob be glad you went ahead and got it.

I hope that helps with your choice.

I was a lot like Mike in that I could have settled for the non-adjustable second but would probably wish I had went with the adjustable on a month down the road. In all actuality, I don't fiddle with mine much unless it is extremely cold to further prevent freeflows in the local quarries. In warm water I may tweak it ever so slightly on the first dive and dive all season without messing with the knob. I went with the Apeks line instead of the Aqualung because I could get the regulator at a better price than the AL with equal performance with local service support. If there is any doubt, I would go with the adjustable simply so you won't want to upgrade in 2 years. But if money is tight and you are working on buying other gear as well, the regular Legend is a dependable high-performance reg that will last you for years.
