I searched but didn't see anything....but I want to ask a stupid question. :) I just got my aluminum 100s doubled up. For the moment, I've transported them back to my house with the backplate and wing attached....it let me carry them in rather easily (long walk from a parking lot, gotta love college). And I know when I'm getting air, I always see people backed up to the station, whole kit assembled, getting air. Do I need to be taking this stuff apart after every dive, or can I just leave it all together? I only have one set of doubles and no singles, so....it's not like I have anything else to attach to dive with at the moment... :) Mostly, I'm wondering if that will hurt the wing.

Thank you!!

It will depend on the fill station you are using. At the local shop I use we leave our kit together, but the other shop down the road wants the wing, back plate and regs removed.

Ask at your fill station and see how they want it.

when I only had one set of doubles, I left the kit together pretty much all the time. I also only dive fresh water so I wasn't super concerned about rinsing, just a quick blast with the hose after a dive.

Congrats on the "kit" set-up.
I know you've been workin' at it for awhile.
Have you had a chance to dive them yet?
If so, how did/do you like them?
See you in the spring/Springs.

The fill station, as I said, is usually occupied by rigs lying down in the backs of trucks and cars, fully assembled.... if someone wants a funky mix, they might leave the tanks, and then they are usually dissassembled. They have multiple very long whips....

So, it won't cause any damage to leave it setup? It's just a pain to attach it all every time....

Brewone0to--yeah, I doubled up the 100s. :) Haven't dived them yet....some kerfuffles in planning happened and I got them doubled after the dive instead of the day before. But I'm going to get out and dive them soon! I have been working towards this for a while now, and I'm finally taking the steps into the cave diving world! The parents have stopped promising to disown me if I get cave certified, so that's going to happen this summer, Lord willing!

i leave my plate and wings on the tanks until i get home, then i rinse them separately

it's just a lot less hassle and pain on my back. i haven't been to a cave shop yet that has objected ... but then again, i've only ever been to 6 cave shops (and Ginnie ... but that's not really a cave shop)

Another depends on where its being filled answer...

For transportation back into my house, I typically throw the plate on(sans wing) and carry it up the stairs on my back rather than out in front of me(PITA).

Its not gonna hurt anything, but if your favorite fill station requires you to dump them into a tub for filling(typically a better fill practice than hot fills in the back of your truck), they may want everything removed in order to free up some realestate for other people's tanks.

I take the plate and wing off my doubles before I load 'em into my truck. zero chance of getting a "pinch flat" in the bladder of my wing if I disassemble my rig before moving it around or transporting it..

best to remove the wing for transport, I leave the plate on for moving around. I find it much easier to throw my 120s over one shoulder so I can squat down to drop them, rather than wait for someone to take them off my back. If its real short trip I'll carry themby the valves but again easiest to throw one one shoulder (I will admit I get strange looks when I walk into a dive shop carring gear one one shoulder "we have a dolly" but that means two extra trips)

I dove with Flightlead a week or so ago and he turned me on to a little set of light weight aluminum hand trucks from Home Depot. The upright handles either fold or telescope (I can't remember), but they are perfect for hauling and moving around a set of doubles. $45 or $50 bucks is what he paid for them. I am definately buying a pair.
