I’ve got an APD14 cell (dated 5/2025) showing a little corrosion around the contacts. It’s not bad yet, but enough to make me wonder if this is how a cell leak starts. Anyone run into this before? The cell remains linear, but wondering whether I should chalk it up to normal wear or pull it before it gets worse.

There is no liquid electrolyte in O2 cells, although loop moisture and the electrolyte "paste" can combine to create a mess. That's far more likely to be a poorly manufactured board with leftover flux combining with loop moisture.

It's life support, don't slide down the "good enough" slope of deviance. I would replace it.

Has this happened before, do you look in there generally or happened across it this time

Me if it comes back I'd get the phosphoric onto it and see

APD14 used to be high quality, probably a bad batch, or mostly an isolated case, it may happen with any manufacturer

I usually find APD14 cells last 12 month before leaking but very rare to go 18 months before leaking. All will leak electrolyte eventually. I never keep my cells in the units if I am not diving them in the next week and I always double bag them for storage.

I have had to have the wiring on the head replaced from leaking cells.
If in doubt replace it

These are horrible. Why continue to buy this junk? There are other cell sources that don't have this issue.
