To answer your question, I'd be less than satisfied with shop "B" but I understand a hour of driving the wrong direction, including better service and prices from shop "A", may not be cost effective.
I suspect shop "B" knows this, and uses it to their advantage.
I feel your pain!
Tanks are usually the last thing divers buy and I don't presume to tell you how to spend your money. I own nine; 2 hp 100 steels, 1 lp 85 steel, 2 alum 80 nitrox dedicated and 4 alum 80 air dedicated. The last three were purchased out of hydro and vip. I gave $25.00 each and paid for the hydro, vip, and fill at $50.00 each.
At $75.00 each, that's about half the cost of a new Alum 80 here and I'm good for the next five years.
The convienence factor was the driving motivator for me and I wish I had been smarter about buying them all used instead of 6 at the retail price. Somebody has to save the economy!
I have saved a couple of dive buddies that couldn't get to a shop in time to get tanks. As long as they fill them or reimburse me I don't mind.
I always assumed I was invited to join a number of dive outings because of my rapier wit and charming personality. Not to mention my superior dive skills and leadership abilities. My wife says it's because of all those damn tanks.
I'm afraid she just might be right.
