Much has happened over the past year and a half with the NACD. We have experienced some great losses and have had our share of opportunities. However as an organization, the NACD will continue to move forward and be a leader in the cave diving community. We recently launched a new website, a new online store, a members forum, and announced the 45th Annual seminar. To better serve its members and students, the NACD will continue to evolve and improve in the areas of Conservation, Education, Safety, Exploration, and Service.
It is through this continued evolution that we announce the resignation of Larry Green as Training Director. Over the years, Larry has been critical to the success of the NACD as well as the Training Committee. His resignation does not mean he is leaving. He will remain on the BOD and in his new honorary position as Training Director Emeritus Larry will continue to provide his expertise and knowledge to the Training Committee and the agency in general. Larry appreciates everything that everyone has done for him and the NACD and he hopes that you will continue to show your support and provide your input to the new Training Director.
Jeff Bauer, the NACD president, appointed, and the BOD approved, Rob Neto as the new Training Director. Rob has only been on the NACD BOD for a little over a year but he is no stranger to our community. Rob has his Silver Wakulla award and has been involved with exploration and mapping of cave systems in Florida and Mexico. He is an NACD instructor with specialties in Sidemount, DPV, Stage and Survey. Additionally, Rob also teaches cave and other technical diving for the NSSCDS, TDI, IANTD, PADI Tec/Rec, and KISS rebreathers. He has also organized the NACD's participation in the Great Suwannee River Clean-up, participated in ECO-Day at Madison Blue, and made presentations at various cave/technical conferences.
The theme of the NACD seminar in a couple of months is Laying New Line. An important part of this weekend is the Sunday event where we will discuss new training programs and ask for your input. Join us and give Rob and the Training Committee your support and ideas.
In closing, we thank Larry for over a decade of his knowledge and direction as the NACD Training Director, and we welcome Rob as the new director. Thank you both for your past and future service.
Safe diving,
Sandy Robinson
