Yes, it is the same. I don't know the relationship between Oceanic and Lavacore, though.

I have the full suit and love it.

I just called Oceanic (should have done that before posting) but they are both owned by the same parent company.

I have an Ocenaic Lavacore full suit and yes it is pretty warm - probably equivalent to 2mm at the surface and better than 2mm at depth (at it doesn't compress the way neoprene does at depth). I also have a Sharkskin suit (lined with Polartec 2) made in Australis, and I think it may actually be a tad warmer - it is a little thicker. Both are are great products for tropical diving or undersuits.
