I just purchased a lavacore full suit. I dive 20 lbs of lead with my 5 mil with me being 5'9, 215 lbs so I'm wondering how much lead I can drop diving the lavacore suit. I'm guessing 14, but would appreciate help from someone who's diving this suit now. I'm doing some drift dives next weekend with Jupiter Dive Center so I won't really have time to get my weights right before next Saturday so any help would be appreciated.

I have one and love it but when I use it I don't use any weight. I dive with 8 pounds with my 3mm and if I use it I wear it under my 3mm and I don't add any. If I just use the lava core maybe a pound or two. They are meant to not be bouyant.

Soak your lavacore in a bathtub and see if it floats. If it does, bundle it around a 2lbs weight and see if it sinks. I'm pretty sure you don't need anything more than 0.5lbs to sink one.

Factor in the amount with how much weight it takes to sink you in a swim suit and you have your rough weighting (minus tank factors).

I doubt you'd need 14lbs.

Take whatever you use with swim trunks and add maybe 2 lbs to counter an empty tank at the end of the dive.
