It's gotten to the point where, if I don't know the caller, I assume it's a scam.

Well, if my phone is ringing, I answer, even if I don't recognise the number. Period.Don’t blame the people who don’t/won’t answer the phone, blame the infestation of telemarketers and phone scammers that ruined peoples’ trust.
I too have dumped in the middle of a survey, for reasons that make me less likely to agree to them in the first place as time goes on.You have a valid purpose

I cannot tell you how many times I tried to cooperate and got pissed off at another stupid question for which I did not like my options and bailed on the questionaire.
Just remember you can call any questionaire at any time for any reason.
Sadly, those are probably not poorly constructed questions. They are probably artfully constructed to guarantee that the survey will turn out the way the people paying for it want it to turn out.Poorly constructed leading questions that clearly predetermine the result are the worst offenders, and surprisingly common in my experience.
