Could I please have some recommendations for companies to book with or sites to search through last minute liveaboard dive deals? Package options incl. return flights from the UK would be preferred as last minute flights tend to negate the saving of a last minute dive deal 🙂.

On a slightly separate note, are blue o two still a premium outfit and worth considering, or are there better dive companies these days?

Scubatravel seem to be the only company who occasionally offer last minute deals with UK flights. You are best to keep an eye on their Facebook page.

I don’t think Blue o two offer flights anymore, and they have a bit of a tarnished reputation after going bust and starting a new business while owing lots of divers money. I wasn’t impacted but know people who have been.

Otherwise it is a case of looking on liveaboard.com or paditravel and seeing if any deals come up. Emperor divers are also worth checking. Although as you say flights can be expensive at short notice. I have dived with both Scubatravel and Blueotwo, I have found them both good, but I would say all the boats are a bit tired compared to some of the newer offerings.

Thanks for the reply :). We've used scubatravel in the past and were happy with their service. What are some of the newer offerings which may be worth looking at?

I went with Blue O Two on the Blue Horizon in December (after the bust/sale) and had a great time. I'm from the US though so can't speak to last minute flights. Last I looked they were still doing 50% off which is dirt cheap for a week long liveaboard.

Have a look through the various boats on Liveaboard.com. There are a lot of newer boats, I haven’t been on any to recommend, but have looked at lots from the harbour side at Hurghada and Oort Ghalib. I am going on Sea Legend in October which is a couple of years old and looks a step up compared to some of the normal boats. For comparison I have been on Whirlwind, Blue Horizon and Royal Evolution in the past. However no matter which boat you are on the diving is still the same and the newer boats all seem to be much bigger with more guests than those from ten years or more ago.

Will do just that, thanks. Would be good to have a recommendation from anyone else for a particular boat with a particularly good crew and food. :)

Ramadan 3, owned by United Divers Safaga. Godd crew and good food... but as far as I know, fully booked until oct 2022... call United Divers, maybe there is still some places left (whatsapp +20 102 438 33 34)

Have been with them several weeks, always very pleased.
