Last minute change to DR - help please

I was supposed to leave on Friday for Cozumel to have my wedding but that is no longer an option. The only place we can reschedule to is the DR, either Dreams or Bahia Principe in the DR. Has anyone stayed at either place? Any recommendations between the two?

I've heard there is no point even bringing gear down to go diving there, should I? Is there anywhere good to go?

If you want good calm waters avoid the atlantic..hit the Caribbean side. La Romana. Is a very beautiful part of the DR. The waters are calmer. More protected than the Atlantic side. Punta cana Puerto Plata. As far as the resorts go...do the 5 start treatment. I have friends that just came back for this resort

and they loved it. They said it was a fantastic place. And the diving was surprisingly good. They were very happy with the resort and area overall.

The diving on the Atlantic side is not the greatest. if you happen to be going during a full moon...forget the diving...the waters are rougher vis is reduced and your better off kite surfing or boogie boarding...Do bring snorkeling gear if you do not bring full dive gear. Or just rent what you need. and play it by ear. But I do hope you will be doing alot more than just diving..

Have fun..By the way...check out Dressel divers. they offer an excursion to La Romana/Bayahibe or Catalina. price is about $100us per person a full day with lunch and transportation. plus diving is extra of course...Diving on average is 50-60US...plus rental gear.

Now it turns out the wedding won't work out there... Stupid swine lu ruined plans! Weedding is postponed for now... Maybe going to Cuba, roatan or belize...

Don't stress out - go to Breezes Curacao, you have a direct flight out of Toronto. And the diving is wonderful. Ocean Encounters is on property. You won't be disappointed. Go to the Lesser Antilles ABC posts.

My wife's friend had a nice wedding in Dreams La Romana at the beginning of this month. If you have an option to go to Dreams why not to La Romana (actually it is located in Bayahibe) instead of Punta Cana? We have great diving here. But I guess it's too late to change your mind.
