Knowing that most of the people who view this section are from MA, I was wondering if anyone has had the LASIK procedure done and can recommend a Dr. in the area, or has had a bad experience with a specific Dr. and would NOT recommend them. I am considering a Dr. in the Worcester area, but would like to hear about other MA diver's experiences.

Thanks,

Jessica

I have not had LASIX yet (although I'd like too), but, if it were me I would only go to a big place like Mass Eye and Ear - these days there are so many places doing LASIK, but, when it comes to my eyes I would only trust the best (you don't want hallos or anything). Just like anything, there are bad doctors and there are good ones - shop around. Good luck BTW

Can't help you find a good Doc in Ma. but can give you some hints for what to be concerned about. After much research I had both mine done several years ago and i can say its one of the best things i ever did for myself.

Unless something has changed in the last two years or so, two of the main things to be concerned about are cornea thickness and pupil diameter. You get a Doc telling you either of those don't matter and i would be very concerned. The Doc i ultimately chose gave me a list of prior patients to call that was several hundred long. That also helped a lot.

I don't remember what the threshold values for either are but if your corneas are too thin or pupils too large in diameter, potential problems with the Lasik procedure go up exponentially.

When i had mine done it was pretty documented that a large majority of the failed Lasik procedures were caused by either the Doc or patient pressing the issue and getting the surgery done even though the patients cornea was too thin or pupil to wide.

Even so, the failure rate was very, very low back then. Its probably even lower today.

Best of luck to you. :)
