Nice! We're going on the Rocio starting the 16 for the 12 day cruise. What was the water temp? You all look like 3 mm and hoodies, but I thought the water would be warmer?

29C (84F).

I wear hood for protection (some bugs seem to like to munch on my ear wax). Also I like to put mask strap over my ears to even up the mask skirt seal pressure on my face. If I put the strap above my ears, the mask skirt would put more pressure on my forehead and less pressure on the cheeks that leads to leaky mask that I need to drain the water out of the mask, otherwise the water would get into my nose when I look up or swimming with face up. Having the hood on is like having sock under the strap, protecting my ear lobe from getting blister by the strap movements.

I definitely have no complaint with Nautilus Belle Amie, especially with 50% off DEMA deal we got for this trip.

This trip was my 4th time on this boat (Socorro twice, Guadalupe once and this trip to Sea of Cortez). Highly recommended!
Planning a Sea of Cortez trip with Belle Amie in mid Sept. Hesitation is weather since it's hurricane season. Have you done Sea of Cortez in Sept and if yes did you have weather issues? Thanks much.

I've done the SoC twice in September and did not have any weather issues. Water is at it's warmest during that time too.

I have done 3 SOC trips. All three were during the first part of September. 2 were near misses. In 2021 it was Hurricane Olaf and in 2022 it was Hurricane Kay. We boarded the boat the week after @Trailboss123 had his encounter with Kay.

Thanks. Appreciate the responses. And, I climate being what it is the weather is very unpredictable. How is the abundance of sea life in Sept.? Really hoping for some oceanic mantas, dolphins, and if lucky hammers and whale sharks.

We have dove both northern and southern routes. I preferred the northern route but of course each trip is unique. If a southern route try and find a trip that extends to the Bahía de los Ángeles and the whale sharks.

We love diving the SOC and hope to catch a trip again this year. I think, excluding the risk of storms, Sept is a perfect time to go.

We have seen whale sharks but just in the bay and of course the hammerheads pictured. The Belle Amie found pilot whales and dolphins. We hopped in the zodiacs and chased ahead of the pods and then dropped into the water to try and snorkel with them. I don’t recall ever seeing a manta but have caught glimpes of mobulas. And of course lots of playful sea lions.

We were there in early September 2023 & had good weather, as you see in the video.
