Fencing fish did a couple dives at Lanes Cove. Quite the happening spot with other divers today. First time in a while had to wait for a spot to park.

Was dead calm, hot, hazy and humid. Was so good to get in water after suited up. Surface temps in shallows were around 70 degrees

Stats

Dive 1 in at 12:27 PM
Max depth 47 fsw
Temp at depth 52
Bottom Time

Dive 2 in at 1:54 PM
Max depth 32 fsw
Temp at depth 60 degrees,
Bottom time 55 min

The first dive, we headed due north and toured the huge Pink Granite Rock formations. Plenty of decent sized bugs to be found (we were touring and not hunting) Didn't see much in terms of critter on both dives. The 2nd dive, we headed towards the "mini wall" and followed the top of the wall. The vis was great on both dives in the shallows and rapidly deteriorated as headed towards deeper waters along the wall/edge (lots of silt)

On both dives, towing the flag was a pain as got snagged on a lot of pots. Typical for Lanes Cove.

We dove at lowest of low tide. Entry was a bit slippery but no slipping getting in.

Got my Lanes fix. I'm good for a while and looking to do some other sites haven't dove in a while.

I plan to visit Lanes Thursday 8/27. Want to come along?

wish I could but out of town traveling next week. (San Fran, LA, Charlotte) Ughh.
Passed by Lanes this afternoon on way to dive Halibut point. Was dead calm. Totally bizarre seeing it from the water.

Helpful and interesting dive report, thanks!

Any more reports of harassment by locals lately?

Never really had any issues. It always comforting when the parking area was active and many folks topside during surface intervals. I once did have a snotty woman US letter carrier say "you know you're not supposed to be diving here" as I was suiting up. Obviously a local sympathetic to the lobsterman. I wanted to give her a piece of my mind but just smiled back.
